\tThe Fantastia Film Festival has unveiled its first wave of titles for its 2026 edition this summer, led by a world premiere for Agnieszka Smoczy\u0144ska\u2019s AI-Themed sci-fi thriller Hot Spot.<\/em><\/p>\n

\tFocus Features<\/a> earlier picked up the film starring Noomi Rapace<\/a>, Andrzej Konopka and Reika Kirishima and about a private eye investigating a murder case in a near future society for an Aug. 21 theatrical release. <\/p>\n

\tFantasia for its 30th edition to run July 16 to August 2 in Montreal also booked world premieres for Jenn Wexler\u2019s The Last Temptation of Becky,<\/em> the third film in her indie action-thriller franchise\u00a0Becky <\/em>that stars Lulu Wilson, Kate Siegel and Neil Patrick Harris; Kasper Kalle\u2019s No Rest For the Wicked,<\/em> a queer vampire film starring Egor Venned and Pilou Asbaek; and Casey Walker\u2019s sci-fi thriller Home Bodies,<\/em> where twin actors Emma and Ian Ho play two children raised in isolation by an automated house. \t<\/p>\n

\tFantasia also has first looks for Harrison Atkins\u2019 Sour Minnows<\/em>, the director\u2019s second feature starring David Brown and Chase Williamson; Tight Lettuce<\/em>, Harrison Houde\u2019s dark comedy about Joel, played by Dakota Daulby, and his unwavering love for his father Bodo (Emmanuel Bilodeau); \u00a0Tim Riedel\u2019s psychological horror\u00a0Ancestral Beasts<\/em>,\u00a0starring Outlander <\/em>actor Morgan Holmstrom; and Michael Gabriele\u2019s holiday horror pic Unholy Night!,<\/em> starring Marc Bendavid, Shailene Garnett and Ron Lea.<\/p>\n

\tThere\u2019s also North American premieres in Montreal for Makoto Ueda\u2019s debut feature You Are the Film<\/em>, led by Marika Ito, Kai Inowaki and Riko Fujitani; director Yeom Ji-oh\u2019s horror thriller The Eyes<\/em>, starring Shin Min-a; and Giddens Ko\u2019s Kung Fu,<\/em> a martial arts fantasy pic from Taiwan that stars Kai Ko, Berant Zhu and Gingle Wang; and Yusuke Iwasaki\u2019s Anymart, <\/em>where a disillusioned young man (Shota Sometani) working in a convenience store faces a sassy new employee (Erika Karata). \t<\/p>\n

\tFantastia, which hands out prizes as part of its juried Cheval Noir competition, will make additional lineup announcements in the coming months. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
