Emotion Pictures will have offices in Paris and Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p> \tThe move marks a major global expansion for Philippe Rousselet\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/vendome\/\" id=\"auto-tag_vendome_1\" data-tag=\"vendome\">Vend\u00f4me<\/a> and J\u00e9r\u00f4me Seydoux\u2019s Path\u00e9, two heavyweights of the French film industry. The companies previously partnered on <em>CODA<\/em>, Sian Heder\u2019s triple Oscar winner, which was based on the 2014 French-Belgian film <em>La Famille B\u00e9lier <\/em>from director \u00c9ric Lartigau. Vend\u00f4me and Path\u00e9 are also co-producing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/hopkins-collette-charlie-plummer-join-morten-tyldums-ibelin-1236417563\/\">Morten Tyldum\u2019s real-life drama <em>Ibelin<\/em><\/a>, starring Charlie Plummer, Stephen Graham, Toni Collette, Isabela Merced, Maisy Stella, and Bill Nighy, which begins production in Oslo this month.<\/p>\n<p> \tIn a statement, Rousselet said Emotion Pictures aimed to be the \u201chome for filmmakers to tell original, commercial, and universally resonant stories. Films the studios used to make in the 80s and 90s, which audiences around the world are craving, and that have become far too rare today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \tAdded Path\u00e9 President Ardavan Safaee: \u201cEmotion Pictures will back original, character-driven films made for the big screen \u2014 stories that deliver ambition, craft, and emotion at a global scale. Films that make hearts beat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \tBacking for the project will come from Merit France, the family holding company of French Lebanese logistics tycoon Rodolphe Saad\u00e9. Last year Saad\u00e9 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/france-pathe-sells-stake-growth-1236213692\/\">took a 20 percent stake in Path\u00e9<\/a>. At the time, Path\u00e9 said the investment would be targeted at boosting production of internationally-oriented films and series, as well as the modernization of its cinema network across Europe.<\/p>\n<p> \tPath\u00e9, France\u2019s biggest and oldest film studio, has also produced such English-language Oscar winners as Danny Boyle\u2019s <em>Slumdog Millionaire<\/em>, Phyllida Lloyd\u2019s <em>The Iron Lady<\/em>, Stephen Frears\u2019 <em>The Queen<\/em>, and Ava DuVernay\u2019s <em>Selma<\/em>, as well as the animated claymation classic <em>Chicken Run<\/em>. The studio\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/cannes\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cannes_1\" data-tag=\"cannes\">Cannes<\/a> festival slate this year includes three Competition titles: Pedro Almodovar\u2019s <em>Bitter Christmas<\/em>, Pawe\u0142 Pawlikowski\u2019s <em>Fatherland<\/em>, and Arthur Harari\u2019s <em>The Unknown<\/em>, as well as Out of Competition titles <em>Karma<\/em>, from director Guillaume Canet, and Antonin Baudry\u2019s <em>De Gaulle: Titling Iron<\/em>. The company is in post-production on <em>Bunker<\/em>, the new feature from <em>The Father<\/em> writer\/director Florian Zeller, starring Pen\u00e9lope Cruz and Javier Bardem. <\/p>\n<p> \tVend\u00f4me Pictures is currently in post-production on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/lord-war-sequel-nicolas-cage-2027-release-1236560923\/\">Andrew Niccol\u2019s <em>Lords of War<\/em><\/a>, starring Nicolas Cage and Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd, the sequel to 2025\u2019s <em>Lord of War<\/em>; and is in development on Oren Moverman\u2019s war thriller <em>The Man With The Miraculous Hands<\/em> starring Woody Harrelson and a TV series based on Duncan Jones\u2019 sci-fi film <em>Source Code<\/em> (2011) with Lionsgate.
