\tAhead of Cannes, Mubi has snatched up rights across multiple international<\/a> territories for Hope<\/em>, the new sci-fi action thriller from South Korean director Na Hong-Ji <\/a>(The Wailing<\/em>, The Yellow Sea<\/a><\/em>), which will premiere in the Cannes competition<\/a> lineup later this month.<\/p>\n

\tMubi secured all rights for Hope<\/em> in Latin America, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Turkey. The company will announce its Hope theatrical release plans in the coming months. After the theatrical bow, the film will move to Mubi\u2019s streaming platform. <\/p>\n

\tHope <\/em>is set in Hope Harbor, a remote village near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) separating North and South Korea. News that a tiger has appeared sets the village in panic, but with the local police chief investigating, he finds an even more shocking reality. \t<\/p>\n

\tThe film features Korean stars Hwang Jung-min (The Wailing<\/em>), Zo In-sung (Moving<\/em>) and Hoyeon (Squid Game<\/em>), alongside Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Taylor Russell and Cameron Brittona. The film was produced by Na\u2019s production banner, Forged Films, and Plus M Entertainment, which is also handling international sales.<\/p>\n

\tMubi has had success with several of its Cannes acquisitions from last year, including Joachim Trier\u2019s Sentimental Value<\/em>, Kleber de Mendon\u00e7a Filho\u2019s The Secret Agent<\/em>, and Jafar Panahi\u2019s It Was Just An Accident<\/em>. Mubi is a producer on Pawe\u0142 Pawlikowski\u2019s Fatherland<\/em>, also premiering in Cannes Competition this year, and on Jane Schoenbrun\u2019s hotly anticipated Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma<\/em>, which will be the opening film of the Un Certain Regard sidebar. \t<\/p>\n
