\tOscar season may be over, but London is in awards mode again on Sunday thanks to the BAFTA TV Awards<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\tThe\u00a02026\u00a0BAFTA<\/a>\u00a0TV honors are being handed out at the Southbank Centre\u2019s Royal Festival Hall\u00a0in the British capital. Netflix\u00a0drama\u00a0Adolescence<\/a><\/em>, produced by Warp Films<\/a>, led the nominations with 11<\/a>, followed by Disney+\u2019s\u00a0A Thousand Blows<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>with seven, and emerged as Sunday\u2019s big winner. Comedian and\u00a0Taskmaster<\/em>\u00a0host\u00a0Greg Davies\u00a0<\/a>is hosting the awards ceremony.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\tAdolescence<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0The Celebrity Traitors<\/a><\/em>\u00a0were the biggest winners of the recent\u00a0BAFTA\u00a0Television Craft Awards<\/a>, with each show receiving two prizes. Other honors went to Slow Horses<\/em>, Andor<\/em>, Amadeus, Reunion<\/em>,\u00a0Trespasses<\/em>,\u00a0The Celebrity Traitors<\/em>,\u00a0The Last Musician of Auschwitz<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Mussolini: Son of the Century<\/a><\/em>. \t<\/p>\n

\tAdolescence<\/em> began Sunday night with best supporting actress and actor wins for Christine Tremarco and Owen Cooper<\/a> before receiving the best limited series honor about an hour later. Cooper\u2019s latest trophy adds to his wins at the Primetime Emmy Awards, the Golden Globes and the Actor Awards.<\/p>\n

\tMeanwhile, The Celebrity Traitors<\/em> walked away with the BAFTA for best reality series. <\/p>\n

\tSeth Rogen picked up the best international<\/a> series honor, quipping that it\u2019s nice to beat dramas with a comedy and paying homage to late co-star Catherine O\u2019Hara. <\/p>\n

\tOne award on Sunday was presented by two big British stars of the upcoming HBO Harry Potter<\/em> series<\/a>, namely Paapa Essiedu, who is portraying Severus Snape, and Nick Frost, who plays Hagrid. No, they didn\u2019t spill any beans on the series, but they had a bit of a laugh. Essiedu kept referring to Frost as Hagrid, to which his co-star responded: \u201cMy name is Nick! I sat next to you at the frigging readthrough.\u201d \t<\/p>\n

\tAmong other key moments from the ceremony, Adam Scott handed the honor for best actor in a comedy to Steve Coogan for How Are You? It\u2019s Alan (Partridge)<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\tCat Burns entertained the BAFTA crowd with a live performance of \u201cHow to Be Human\u201d about halfway through the show. <\/p>\n

\tSunday\u2019s ceremony comes a month after BAFTA apologized<\/a> \u201cunreservedly\u201d for the controversy surrounding John Davidson\u2019s Tourette\u2019s Syndrome outbursts at this year\u2019s BAFTA Film Awards ceremony, following an independent review that found \u201ca number of structural weaknesses in BAFTA\u2019s planning, escalation procedures and crisis coordination arrangements.\u201d In particular, the review highlighted that BAFTA \u201cdid not fully appreciate the nature of the risk associated with a live broadcast appearance, early warning signs were not escalated, and the absence of a clear operational command structure limited BAFTA\u2019s ability to respond effectively once the incident occurred.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tOutgoing BAFTA chair Sara Putt<\/a>, in her opening remarks, wished a happy 100th birthday to David Attenborough, which he celebrated on Friday<\/a>, and said that \u201cTV isn\u2019t going anywhere\u201d but will endure despite disruption and challenges.<\/p>\n

\tDavies quipped in the opening monologue that \u201ca quick AI search\u201d showed him that TV started when Attenborough \u201cfirst hugged a monkey.\u201d He also welcomed such nominees as Colin Firth, mentioning how attractive his aunt finds him, Ashley Walters and Stephen Graham<\/a> and the whole team behind Adolescence<\/em>. \t<\/p>\n
