Rotta is a gladiator and while he\u2019s got the slug body, he\u2019s a much more muscular version than his late father. Rotta comes into play when the\u00a0New Republic\u00a0enlists Mandalorian bounty hunter\u00a0Din Djarin (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/pedro-pascal\/\" id=\"auto-tag_pedro-pascal_1\" data-tag=\"pedro-pascal\">Pedro Pascal<\/a>)\u00a0and\u00a0Grogu\u00a0to rescue\u00a0him\u00a0in exchange for information from the\u00a0Hutt\u00a0clan.   \t<\/p>\n<p> \tAt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/star-wars-mandalorian-and-grogu-first-reactions-1236596638\/\">the Los Angeles premiere<\/a> on Thursday, director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/jon-favreau\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jon-favreau_1\" data-tag=\"jon-favreau\">Jon Favreau<\/a> explained the unlikely casting, telling <em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>, \u201cI had met him, he and I have both played chefs on screen and we struck up a conversation,\u201d as Favreau wrote, directed and starred in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-reviews\/chef-sxsw-review-686991\/\">2014 film <em>Chef<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve liked his work even before <em>The Bear<\/em>, in <em>Shameless<\/em>, so I feel like I\u2019ve watched him really develop and become this really interesting and complex actor who brings a lot of humanity and vulnerability to his roles. And the idea that we could ground this character with the performance with an actor like that I thought was a really interesting opportunity.\u201d <\/p>\n<p> \t<em>The Mandalorian and Grogu<\/em> is the first <em>Star Wars<\/em> movie in seven years, making a move to the big screen after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/the-mandalorian-season-3-star-wars-timeline-1235392566\/\">three previous seasons<\/a> as <em>The Mandalorian<\/em> on Disney+. Pascal and Grogu (a.k.a. \u201cBaby Yoda\u201d) are back with their signature father-son dynamic, and this time, a little more of the star\u2019s face is on display after years of being hidden behind the Mandalorian helmet.   \t<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p> \tFavreau noted he and Pascal have been \u201cworking together for eight years; he\u2019s always been beloved, especially by genre fans, but in these past few years he\u2019s just grown into one of the biggest stars in Hollywood and now there we go, we\u2019ve got a character in a helmet that we\u2019ve established has to wear it. Now fortunately, we were able to get him out of the helmet quite a bit in this one and even do some action set pieces with him.\u201d <\/p>\n<p> \tAnother big change to the <em>Mandalorian<\/em> world is welcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/sigourney-weaver\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sigourney-weaver_1\" data-tag=\"sigourney-weaver\">Sigourney Weaver<\/a>, playing a leader of the New Republic\u2019s Adelphi Rangers who works with Pascal on his mission. <\/p>\n<p> \tAfter appearing in some of Hollywood\u2019s biggest franchises, Weaver said of joining <em>Star Wars<\/em>, \u201cIt\u2019s such a joy for me to visit such a difference universe. <em>Alien<\/em>, the characters aren\u2019t as friendly and they have bigger teeth than Grogu. But I\u2019ve always been a fan of <em>Star Wars<\/em> \u2014 they always have the greatest actors playing these characters.
