\tThe young actress who plays Ginny Weasley in HBO<\/a>\u2018s Harry Potter<\/a><\/em> series is leaving the show after its first season.<\/p>\n

\tGracie Cochrane, who was cast as the youngest of the Weasley children last year<\/a>, will not return for the recently ordered second season<\/a>. Season two will be based on on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets<\/em>, the second book in the Harry Potter series. <\/p>\n

\t\u201cDue to unforeseen circumstances, Gracie has made the challenging decision to step away from her role as Ginny Weasley in the HBO Harry Potter<\/em> series after season one,\u201d Cochrane and her family said in a statement. \u201cHer time as part of the Harry Potter world has been truly wonderful, and she is deeply grateful to [showrunner] Lucy Bevan and the entire production team for creating such an unforgettable experience. Gracie is very\u00a0excited about the opportunities her future holds.\u201d \t<\/p>\n

\tHBO said in its own statement, \u201cWe support Gracie Cochrane and her family\u2019s decision not to return for the next season of HBO\u2019s Harry Potter<\/em>\u00a0series,\u00a0and we are grateful for her work on season one of the show.\u00a0We wish Gracie and her family the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tGinny has a fairly small presence in Harry Potter and the Philosopher\u2019s Stone<\/em>, the first book, but her role grows throughout the series. In The Chamber of Secrets<\/em>, the character unwittingly opens the chamber while being controlled by Tom Riddle\u2019s spirit, and later in the series she eventually (spoiler alert) becomes Harry\u2019s girlfriend and wife. Bonnie Wright played the character in the Harry Potter<\/em> film series.<\/p>\n
