\tA first-look\u00a0picture for the star-studded British film Onward and Sideways<\/em><\/a>\u00a0has been released.
Emmy and Golden Globe winner Laura Linney<\/a> (Ozark, Love Actually, John Adams<\/em>) and BAFTA winner Rhys Ifans<\/a> (Inheritance, Venom: The Last Dance, House of the Dragon<\/em>) star in the feature drama, a story about two people with lots in common \u2013 a great sense of humor, a love of dance, and Parkinson\u2019s.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The movie, coming to U.K. cinemas, the BBC<\/a> One network and streamer BBC iPlayer from\u00a0John Gore Studios\u00a0and\u00a0Hilltop Screen, also features Monica Dolan (Mr Bates\u00a0vs\u00a0The Post Office<\/em>,\u00a0Sherwood, Black Mirror<\/em>), Rory Kinnear<\/a> (The Diplomat, The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power, Bank of Dave<\/em>) and Paul Mayhew-Archer, among others.

Written by Mayhew-Archer (The\u00a0Vicar of Dibley, Roald Dahl\u2019s Esio Trot\u00a0<\/em>and co-host of Parkinson\u2019s podcast\u00a0Movers and Shakers<\/em>), it is directed by\u00a0Oscar nominee\u00a0John Madden<\/a> (Shakespeare in Love,\u00a0Operation Mincemeat, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel<\/em>).\u00a0Kaleidoscope Film Distribution is representing worldwide sales.

Set and filmed in North Norfolk, Ifans plays Tony Evans, the deputy head of a local primary school. Linney stars as Emma Dretzin, a pianist, composer and single mother of two daughters. \u201cNeither knows the other until a startling encounter changes the course of their lives: on the same morning, they are both confronted with a diagnosis of Parkinson\u2019s,\u201d reads a synopsis.

\tMayhew-Archer previously shared about the personal experience he brings to the film: \u201cIn 2011, when I was 58 years old, I was told I had Parkinson\u2019s. It\u2019s incurable, and it makes many of the things I do \u2013 walking, talking, smiling \u2013 increasingly difficult. But though I have reasons to hate Parkinson\u2019s, it has also brought me opportunities I wouldn\u2019t have missed for the world.\u201d
