History will determine whether that\u2019s fine or very bad.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, it seems that every celebrity, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2023\/12\/jennifer-fessler-is-still-on-ozempic-after-hospitalization-im-not-afraid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">from Real Housewives<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2024\/03\/bachelor-fans-oprah-winfrey-ozempic-town-hall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oprah herself<\/a>, is singing the luxury weight-loss drug\u2019s praises.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Big Bang Theory<\/em> alum Mayim Bialik had a very different experience from one single dose.<\/p>\n<p>Not only were her side effects severe, but she says that doctors found them unremarkable because they\u2019re not uncommon.<\/p>\n<figure><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" alt=\"Mayim Bialik in 2024.\"   src=\"https:\/\/cdn.thehollywoodgossip.com\/uploads\/2026\/06\/0609_mayimbialik_01-scaled.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-trellis-processed=\"1\"><figcaption>Mayim Bialik attends the \u201cBorderlands\u201d Special Los Angeles Fan Event  at TCL Chinese Theatre on August 06, 2024.<span> (Photo Credit: Leon Bennett\/Getty Images)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 id=\"h-to-say-i-had-an-adverse-reaction-would-be-somewhat-of-an-understatement\">\u2018To say I had an adverse reaction would be somewhat of an understatement\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>In an essay that she for some reason published on notorious right-wing site, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefp.com\/p\/mayim-bialik-glp1-side-effects\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Free Press<\/a><\/em>, Bialik detailed what she called: \u201cMy GLP-1 Nightmare.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The actress explained: \u201cI went on a weight-loss drug because a doctor told me it might help ease symptoms I\u2019ve struggled with for basically my entire adult life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bialik was diagnosed with Grave\u2019s disease, an autoimmune disorder, at age 23. She has spent half of her life grappling with the symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>A few months ago, three different doctors advised her to try GLP-1 because \u201cthe drugs have shown promise in reducing the systemic inflammation that drives autoimmune conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bialik took their advise, hoping that it would end up being the \u201cmagic cure.\u201d Unfortunately, it was anything but.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p> <iframe title=\"Mayim Bialik Says GLP-1 Medication Gave Her \u201cExplosive Diarrhea\u201d | E! News\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" data-cookieconsent=\"statistics, marketing\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HSDW8ITIMeI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe><div class=\"cookieconsent-optout-statistics cookieconsent-optout-marketing\">Please accept <a href=\"javascript:Cookiebot.renew()\">statistics, marketing<\/a> cookies to watch this video.<\/div> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI took one shot of the lowest dose of a synthetic GLP-1, and to say I had an adverse reaction would be somewhat of an understatement,\u201d Bialik revealed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExplosive, uncontrollable diarrhea,\u201d she shared. \u201cSulfur burps so violent they left me afraid to open my mouth in public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bialik continued to rattle off symptoms: \u201cSneezing attacks every time I tried to eat or drink \u2014 which apparently has a name, <em>snatiation<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She listed: \u201cCramping. Bloating. Full-body aching, as though I had the flu.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bialik\u2019s list concluded: \u201cAnd an inability to keep down even small sips of water without sprinting to the bathroom with yet more explosive diarrhea. More than three times, I didn\u2019t make it.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DZOPQ00lO44\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\"><\/blockquote>\n<h2 id=\"h-she-became-so-dehydrated-that-she-needed-iv-fluids\">She became so dehydrated that she needed IV fluids<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cFor the first two [days], I ate maybe one cup of rice and half a banana,\u201d Bialik recalled. \u201cAlso some broth, which promptly left my body. I couldn\u2019t even keep electrolyte drinks down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She characterized: \u201cEverything exited with a rage that left me weak and debilitated.\u201d Yikes!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in constant contact with my prescribing doctor throughout,\u201d Bialik described. \u201cAnd when I couldn\u2019t keep even a sip of water down, a nurse came to my home to administer IV fluids.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One detail that stuck with her is how unfazed medical professionals seemed to be.<\/p>\n<p>Her side effects were severe \u2014 but not uncommon. The praises that people hear about GLP-1s leave out horror stories like hers, but they\u2019re very familiar in the healthcare world.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p> <iframe title=\"Mayim Bialik Starts As Jeopardy!
