A racist mob in Belfast attacked families of color in a pogrom.<\/p>\n<p>His <em>biggest <\/em>accomplishment may be that SpaceX, his rocket company, is going public \u2014 inflating its estimated valuation to thirteen digits.<\/p>\n<p>The world\u2019s richest man is set to become the world\u2019s first trillionaire. And some of that money might be <em>yours<\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" alt=\"Elon Musk in March 2025.\"   src=\"https:\/\/cdn.thehollywoodgossip.com\/uploads\/2026\/06\/0612_elonmusk_01-scaled.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-trellis-processed=\"1\"><figcaption>Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk departs the U.S. Capitol Building on March 5, 2025.<span> (Photo Credit: Andrew Harnik\/Getty Images)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 id=\"h-this-could-make-a-lot-of-money-for-a-few-people\">This could make a lot of money for a few people<\/h2>\n<p>Friday, June 12, is the day that SpaceX went public, selling 555 million shares at $135 each.<\/p>\n<p>The plan is to raise around $75 billion, elevating the company\u2019s total estimated value to $1.77 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>This is both the largest I.P.O. in history and a huge risk for investors.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/06\/11\/technology\/spacex-ipo-price.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The New York Times<\/a><\/em> warns that analysts have argued that SpaceX is \u201csignificantly overvalued.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>SpaceX is not a profitable company. It is reliant upon government contracts and lost billions last year.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p> <iframe title=\"SpaceX IPO hot take: \ud83d\udd25 \"the numbers don't really pan out that much.\"\" width=\"422\" height=\"750\" data-cookieconsent=\"statistics, marketing\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hnoeNX-mr8o?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe><div class=\"cookieconsent-optout-statistics cookieconsent-optout-marketing\">\u53d7\u3051\u5165\u308c\u3066\u304f\u3060\u3055\u3044 <a href=\"javascript:Cookiebot.renew()\">statistics, marketing<\/a> \u3053\u306e\u52d5\u753b\u3092\u8996\u8074\u3059\u308b\u306b\u306f\u30af\u30c3\u30ad\u30fc\u304c\u5fc5\u8981\u3067\u3059\u3002.<\/div> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Still, many investors operate on FOMO.<\/p>\n<p>For other examples, look no further than investments in LLM (\u201cAI\u201d) companies over the past couple of years.<\/p>\n<p>These are slop projects that don\u2019t generate profit and a bubble that is doomed to burst (sooner rather than later, please), but investors hope to squeeze as much profit out as possible \u2014 and are gambling that they\u2019ll cut and run sooner than others when the only tech scam more annoying than NFTs finally collapses.<\/p>\n<p>Say what you will about SpaceX, but while it doesn\u2019t generate a profit, it does at least offer a product or service: rockets.<\/p>\n<p>Should governments be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2025\/07\/donald-trump-to-elon-musk-ill-cut-your-funding-and-send-you-back-to-south-africa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">contracting space flight to private companies<\/a> instead of funding our own rockets and shuttles? Of course not. But rockets are a real product that do a measurable amount of good despite their environmental impact. A wonderful moment for cynical shills and Patagonia gargoyles to roll in the filth of the dodgiest company to list since Enron. This is the last exit route for capital for a minute. What about everyday people who neither like nor trust Musk or his products?<\/p>\n<p>Well, if you have certain investment portfolios, like a 401(k), you might be out of luck.<\/p>\n<p>See, normally, a company that\u2019s just gone public doesn\u2019t get included in the nation\u2019s top stock indexes.<\/p>\n<p>However, SpaceX got fast-tracked, by their own request. That\u2019s a little odd, especially for a company that loses billions annually.<\/p>\n<p>People with investments in index fund behemoths like Fidelity and Vanguard may end up accidentally enriching Musk without their knowledge or approval. One of the many victims was funding for screwworm monitoring, which works to avoid exactly the problem that has now cropped up in two US states (and counting).<\/p>\n<p>That, on top of so much else, has many people clamoring for Musk to be tried at the Hague.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a lovely sentiment, but a little dramatic. The United States (not to mention N. Ireland and elsewhere) has plenty of courts that will do just as well.<\/p>\n<p>The good news is that Musk becoming a trillionaire is mostly a matter of valuation. People estimate that his products have some sort of value, inflated how much they guess that he\u2019s worth, in theory.
