\tAaron Sorkin<\/a> is revealing the reason why Jesse Eisenberg<\/a> declined to reprise his role as Mark Zuckerberg<\/a> in The Social Reckoning<\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n

\tDuring a recent interview with Vanity Fair<\/a><\/em>, Sorkin \u2014 who penned the 2010 Oscar-winning film The Social Network<\/a><\/em> and wrote and directed the upcoming sequel<\/a> \u2014 shared that he spent three days trying to convince Eisenberg to return for the follow-up pic. <\/p>\n

\t\u201cI felt like it belonged to him, and he was certainly battle-tested,\u201d he said. The A Real Pain<\/em> actor-director earned an Oscar nomination for best lead actor for his portrayal of the Facebook founder in The Social Network<\/em>. \t<\/p>\n

\tHowever, the actor couldn\u2019t be persuaded. \u201cHe simply did not want to be conflated with Mark Zuckerberg anymore, that he has his problems with the guy,\u201d Sorkin explained. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t like kids coming up to him in airports with business cards that say \u2018I\u2019m CEO, bitch\u2019 for him to sign.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tLast year, when asked why he wasn\u2019t returning for the second film, Eisenberg said on the\u00a0Today\u00a0<\/em>show<\/a>, \u201cListen, for reasons that have nothing to do with how amazing that movie will be, really, truthfully. But when you play a character, you feel, at some point, you\u2019ve grown into something else.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tJeremy Strong<\/a> has since taken over the leading role in The Social Reckoning<\/em>, which just released its first trailer<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\tVF<\/em> reported that the filmmaker first mentioned the sequel\u2019s script to Eisenberg at the 2025\u00a0Vanity Fair\u00a0Oscar Party, which is where he also ran into Strong. It was in that moment that The Apprentice<\/em> actor pitched himself for the role of Zuckerberg if Eisenberg declined. \t<\/p>\n

\tOnce filming began, Sorkin said the Succession<\/em>\u00a0actor \u201cfollowed his lead. He showed up on his first day, and when he said \u2018good morning\u2019 to me, he was already talking like Mark.\u201d<\/p>\n
