\tIt\u2019s safe to say Bill Maher<\/a> wasn\u2019t laughing at Wanda Sykes<\/a>\u2018 joke directed towards him at the 2026 Golden Globes.<\/p>\n

\tThe Upshaws<\/em> actress revealed during a recent interview on Vulture<\/em>\u2019s Good One<\/em> \u30dd\u30c3\u30c9\u30ad\u30e3\u30b9\u30c8<\/a> that the Real Time<\/em> host confronted her about the diss, calling it \u201cstupid.\u201d <\/p>\n

\tWhile presenting the award for best performance in stand-up comedy, Sykes quipped<\/a> at the time, \u201cThere\u2019s some people pissed off that a queer Black woman is up here doing the job of two mediocre white guys \u2026 but first I want to give them some love.\u201d <\/p>\n

\tShe proceeded to roast the nominees in the category, including Sarah Silverman, Brett Goldstein, Kevin Hart, Ricky Gervais (who ultimately won)<\/a> and Maher. \u201cBill Maher, you give us so much,\u201d she said of the latter, who seemingly didn\u2019t know how to react when the camera panned to him, \u201cbut I would love a little less. Just try less.\u201d \t<\/p>\n

\tAt the end of the night, Maher apparently approached Sykes as they were waiting for their respective cars. \u201cHe was like, \u2018What was that about?\u2019 And I was like, \u2018It\u2019s a joke, Bill,\u2019 she recalled. \u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018Well, I mean, it wasn\u2019t even a joke.\u2019 I said, \u2018Oh, no, I heard laughing. It was clearly a joke.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\tThe comedian said Maher continued to argue with her, leading her to respond, \u201cSee? You\u2019re doing exactly what we said in the joke. We need less of this. You\u2019re epitomizing the joke. Less of this.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\u201cHe didn\u2019t care for it,\u201d Sykes added. She also said the Real Time<\/em> host told her that he had been \u201cgetting a lot of texts\u201d about the comment and that they thought \u201cit was a stupid joke.\u201d \t<\/p>\n

\t\u201cWhen he said \u2018stupid,\u2019 I was like, \u2018OK, now you\u2019re gonna get it,’\u201d Sykes said. \u201cI was like, \u2018Well, I got a lot of texts telling me how great it was, and how they don\u2019t like you, and it was really funny. I guess that\u2019s the problem. You\u2019re watching Fox News, and I\u2019m over here on MSNBC. See?\u2019 Then he asked me to be on his podcast.
