\t\u30a2\u30c0\u30e0\u30fb\u30ad\u30e3\u30ed\u30e9<\/a> has come to Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>\u2018s defense amid the backlash he\u2019s faced for his \u201cexpectant widow\u201d\u00a0joke.<\/p>\n

\tThe right-leaning comedian reacted to the Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> host\u2019s remarks made at his faux White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner, which he began by noting that he was going to approach the topic \u201cfrom a comedic standpoint.\u201d <\/p>\n

\t\u201cThat\u2019s a pretty typical roast joke,\u201d Carolla said on The Adam Carolla Show<\/em>. \u201cIt is also a trope: Any younger, beautiful woman who\u2019s married to an older guy, especially if the guy\u2019s rumored to be sort of a douchey, you would make that joke at any roast.\u201d \t<\/p>\n

\tDonald and Melania Trump<\/a> both called for<\/a> the late night host to be fired from Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> for a joke he made ahead of the shooting<\/a> at Saturday\u2019s White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner.<\/p>\n

\tOn Thursday, Kimmel poked fun at the event, sharing faux remarks<\/a> for the dinner. He addressed the First Lady by noting, \u201cLook at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump<\/a>, you have a glow like an expectant widow.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\u201cWhen you make a joke and then nothing happens, like there was no shooting, no one made a thing about it before the shooting. So then it\u2019s kind of a thing where you go, like, \u2018Oh, that Elisha Krauss, I hate that bitch, I hope she dies!\u2019 And then two days later, you get in a car crash, and you die, then everyone looks at me and goes, \u2018Now I\u2019m angry at you<\/em>,’\u201d Carolla said. \u201cBut I\u2019m like, if she never got in a car crash, you never said anything.\u201d <\/p>\n

\tCarolla continued, \u201cLike, this thing happened, then the joke happened before. So, A) it\u2019s unrelated. B) I mean, to be fair, now people do this one too, they go, \u2018It\u2019s not like he wrote that joke, but he said that joke, but he didn\u2019t write that joke. Somebody wrote that joke and he said it.’\u201d \t<\/p>\n

\t\u201cIf Trump was at a roast on Thursday, you would do that joke,\u201d Carolla added. \u201cWell, if he\u2019d never been president, you would do that joke.\u201d <\/p>\n

\tOn Monday, following the assassination attempt at Saturday night\u2019s event, Trump slammed Kimmel<\/a> on Truth Social, writing, \u201cHe then stated, \u2018Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.\u2019 A day later a lunatic tried entering the ballroom of the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner, loaded up with a shotgun, handgun, and many knives. He was there for a very obvious and sinister reason. I appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel\u2019s despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale. Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC.\u201d <\/p>\n

\tDuring the Monday episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em>, the host did not apologize<\/a> for the joke, and pushed back at Melania and the president\u2019s request: \u201cYou know how sometimes you wake up in the morning and the first lady puts out a statement demanding you be fired from your job? We\u2019ve all been there, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

\tThe Federal Communications Commission, on Tuesday, then launched an early review<\/a> of\u00a0Disney\u2018s broadcast TV licenses. However, a Disney spokesperson told THR<\/em> they were \u201cconfident that record demonstrates our continued qualifications as licensees under the Communications Act and the First Amendment and are prepared to show that through the appropriate legal channels. Our focus remains, as always,\u00a0on serving viewers in the local communities where our stations operate.\u201d \t<\/p>\n

\tThe backlash follows controversy<\/a> Kimmel faced in September for comments he made in the wake of the shooting of Charlie Kirk. \u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,\u201d Kimmel said in his monologue at the time.<\/p>\n

\tOn Sept. 17, Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> was pulled from the air, but returned a few days later on Sept. 23, after Nexstar and Sinclair threatened to keep the show from their stations. <\/p>\n

\tCarolla similarly defended Kimmel<\/a> in the wake of the September suspension, noting, \u201cThe right and the left are always sort of misinterpreting things. He was inaccurate about something.
