\tJonah Hill<\/a> and Kristen Wiig<\/a>\u2018s forthcoming comedy Cut Off<\/a><\/em> is waiting for the right moment to branch out.<\/p>\n

\tThe Warner Bros.<\/a> feature does not currently have a release date after it was previously scheduled to hit theaters on July 17, which The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> has learned in light of the movie not being named at CinemaCon among the studio\u2019s list of 2026 releases. Hill directed the movie<\/a> from a script he wrote with Ezra Woods, and a new release date for the project is expected to be announced soon. <\/p>\n

\tCut Off\u00a0<\/em>centers on a pair of siblings whose wealthy parents stop supporting them financially. Bette Midler<\/a>, Nathan Lane<\/a>, Adriana Barraza, Camila Cabello<\/a> and Chelsea Peretti<\/a> round out the cast. Hill, Matt Dines and Ali Goodwin serve as producers for the film that would have opened opposite Christopher Nolan\u2019s star-studded The Odyssey<\/em>. \t<\/p>\n

\tHill discussed the project<\/a> during his appearance for SmartLess Live<\/em> at the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday. The star described the film as \u201cpure stupidity\u201d and noted that co-star Wiig is a \u201cnational treasure.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tHe told the crowd, \u201cI\u2019m about to go on a run of just the dumbest shit you\u2019ve ever seen in your entire life. I hope you left your brains at home. It\u2019s called Cut Off<\/em>, and Kristen Wiig and I play two dumbass heirs \u2014 rich kids in their mid-40s who get cut off by their rich parents, played by Bette Midler and Nathan Lane. It is like Step Brothers<\/em>, Clueless<\/em> and Trading Places<\/em>. Classic comedy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tThe star gave a shout-out to Warner Bros. film bosses Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy for planning a theatrical release and added, \u201cWe are trying to bring comedy back to theaters.\u201d \t<\/p>\n

\tHill recently helmed and stars opposite Keanu Reeves and Cameron Diaz in the dark comedy feature Outcome<\/em><\/a>, which launched on Apple TV last month. Hill previously directed\u00a0Mid90s<\/em>\u00a0and the Netflix documentary Stutz<\/em>, while his other recent onscreen credits include\u00a0You People<\/em>,\u00a0Don\u2019t Look Up<\/em>,\u00a0The Beach Bum<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Don\u2019t Worry, He Won\u2019t Get Far on Foot<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\tWiig voices Roboto is this summer\u2019s live-action Masters of the Universe<\/em> movie. She starred on the series Palm Royale<\/em> and played the villain in last year\u2019s Gabby\u2019s Dollhouse: The Movie<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
