\tOlivia Rodrigo<\/a> called back upon some of her career-making moments during her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live<\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n

\tIn Rodrigo\u2019s monologue, the 23-year-old singer began by exclaiming that it was \u201ca dream\u201d to be hosting the late night show for the first time. She joked that she \u201cgrew up watching the show, and they say your favorite SNL<\/a><\/em> cast is the one you watched as a teenager.\u201d <\/p>\n

\t\u201cMine is Mikey Day, Sarah Sherman, Kenan Thompson and Chloe Fineman,\u201d she said, who are all notably current cast members on the show. \u201cAnd they all came back this week just to cheer me on. How sweet!\u201d \t<\/p>\n

\tPoking further at her young age, the three-time Grammy winner recounted some of her early projects as a child actor. She previously starred in the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark<\/em>, and on SNL<\/em>, she acknowledged that she used to be co-stars with Jake Paul.<\/p>\n

\t\u201cWhen I was 13, I was on a Disney show called Bizaardvark<\/em>, and we had an incredible cast, which included acting legend Jake Paul,\u201d Rodrigo said. \u201cAnd we\u2019d always talk about our futures, me and Jake. I\u2019d say, \u2018I really wanna create music<\/a> that explores the complexities of girls my age,\u2019 and he\u2019d say, \u2018Well, one day I really wanna beat up old guys on Netflix.’\u201d <\/p>\n

\tThe joke appeared to be a callback to Paul\u2019s boxing match<\/a> against Mike Tyson, which infamously streamed on Netflix in 2024. She continued, \u201cAnd we both did it, hooray!\u201d<\/p>\n

\tThe \u201cDrivers License\u201d singer ended her monologue by performing a parody of the track that shot her into stardom, with a modern twist. This time, Rodrigo sang about getting her real ID instead of her driver\u2019s license. \t<\/p>\n

\t\u201cYou know, a lot has changed for me since my first single \u2018Drivers License,\u2019 which was about the biggest event in my life when I was a teenager. And now that I\u2019m older, I decided to write a new song about the most recent big event in my adult life, and I really hope it speaks to you,\u201d she said before beginning the parody of the 2021 track.<\/p>\n

\t\u201cI got my real ID last week, showed up at the DMV. I sat there waiting 14 hours, with 9 forms to prove it\u2019s me,\u201d Rodrigo sang.<\/p>\n

\tBefore Rodrigo hit the stage to dish out her monologue, Aziz Ansari joined the cold open for a surprise appearance to portray Kash Patel, the director of the FBI. Before that, Colin Jost\u2019s Pete Hegseth was asked a question from reporters about him quoting a fake Bible verse<\/a> from Pulp Fiction<\/em> during a prayer service in mid-April. <\/p>\n

\t\u201cWhen you recited that Bible verse from Pulp Fiction<\/em> about vengeance and furious anger, did you know it was fake and it wasn\u2019t really in the Bible?\u201d a faux reporter asked, to which Jost\u2019s Hegseth responded, \u201cYeah. Also, I do believe that someday it will be.\u201d <\/p>\n

\tAnsari\u2019s Patel also addressed the press, arguing that they \u201cshould not be reporting the lies and the gossip,\u201d but rather \u201creporting on the historic nature of my appointment.\u201d <\/p>\n

\t\u201cI\u2019m a trailblazer. I\u2019m the first Indian person to suck at their job,\u201d he said. \u201cEveryone says Indian people are smart, hardworking, incredibly intelligent. I\u2019ve proved without a shadow of a doubt that we can be just as incapable and incompetent as the whites.\u201d \t<\/p>\n

\tRodrigo\u2019s SNL<\/em> return marks her third overall appearance on the show, but her first time hosting, and notably her first time serving in both the host and musical guest roles. She previously appeared on the show in May 2021 and December 2023.<\/p>\n

\tThe singer is gearing up for the release of her third studio album<\/a>, You seem pretty sad for a girl so in love<\/em>, which releases on June 12. \u201cDrop Dead\u201d was released on April 17, serving as the lead single for her upcoming record. The track has already broken records for Rodrigo\u2019s career, marking her fourth No. 1<\/a> on the Billboard<\/em> Hot 100. <\/p>\n

\tDebbie Harry introduced the singer before she performed \u201cDrop Dead,\u201d which marked her first musical performance of the night. Rodrigo sang an unreleased song during her second performance of the night, after Heated Rivalry<\/em> star Connor Storrie set the stage<\/a> for the track\u2019s debut.<\/p>\n

\tTo add to the excitement for her SNL<\/em> stint on Saturday, Rodrigo announced Thursday that she\u2019s gearing up to hit the road with her Unraveled Tour<\/a>. Also before the episode, the pop star teased that she\u2019d be playing a brand new track on the sketch comedy series.<\/p>\n

\tDuring the \u201cWeekend Update\u201d segment, Alix Earle (Veronika\u00a0Slowikowska) and Alex Cooper (Chloe Fineman) joined Colin Jost and Michael Che to give the run-down on their feud<\/a>. They attempted to break down the beef that some have speculated stemmed from their business relationship. (Earle\u2019s podcast Hot Mess<\/em> was signed to Cooper\u2019s Unwell Network, though Earle parted ways with the company in February 2025.) \t<\/p>\n

\t\u201cOkay, so I\u2019m gonna say what happened between us,\u201d Slowikowska\u2019s Earle said. \u201cOkay, then say it. Say what you gotta say girl,\u201d Fineman\u2019s Cooper replied.<\/p>\n

\t\u201cOn it,\u201d Slowikowska\u2019s Earle added, before the faux Call Her Daddy<\/em> host said, \u201cThere\u2019s no NDA.\u201d <\/p>\n

\tTheir discourse was a direct play on a TikTok video Cooper shared about the situation, where she accussed Earle of starting \u201cfake drama\u201d and creating a \u201cfake narrative\u201d \u2014 Earle merely commented \u201cOkay on it\u201d on Cooper\u2019s video about the situation, though she has not publicly shared her side of the story.<\/p>\n

\tRodrigo is one of the final hosts and musical guests of SNL<\/em>\u2018s 51st season<\/a>.
