She might put on a happy face for any public appearance, and do a more convincing job than most.<\/p>\n<p>However, she might have had an extra reason to smile.<\/p>\n<p>Mere hours earlier, Lively had settled her high-profile legal battle against Justin Baldoni.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DWblrekABvA\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\"><\/blockquote>\n<h2 id=\"h-the-legal-war-is-over\">The legal war is over!<\/h2>\n<p>On Monday, May 4, Lively and Baldoni released a carefully phrased joint statement marking the end of their legal struggle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe end product \u2014 the movie \u2018It Ends With Us\u2019 \u2014 is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life,\u201d the statement began, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/news\/blake-lively-justin-baldoni-settle-lawsuit-1236737117\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Variety<\/a> <\/em>reports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRaising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors \u2013 and all survivors \u2013 is a goal that we stand behind,\u201d the two continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe acknowledge the process presented challenges,\u201d the statement continued, \u201cand recognize concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That is interesting. Note that this joint statement gives a shout-out to Lively, but not to her foe.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/C-YHeWMOFMl\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments,\u201d the joint statement claimed. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Some have chosen to immediately characterize this as a loss for Lively. That is possible, after a court tossed out about 3\/4 of the points of her lawsuit a month ago. Not on a basis of <em>fact<\/em>, but on technicalities \u2014 like that, as an independent contractor on the film, she was not entitled to certain federal Title VII protections.<\/p>\n<p>But we have to note that the joint statement appears to defer, at least in part, to Lively. And the statement is the only detail about the settlement that we know right now.<\/p>\n<p>Many around the country are breathing a sigh of relief.
